A little about me!

Hi!!

I’m Katie! An elopement, couples, and lifestyle photographer who loves to tell stories through connection, emotion, and experience. Photography to me has always been about more than just the images, it’s also about presence - slowing down, leaning into the moment, and preserving the way it felt to be there. Whether we’re celebrating a wedding day, documenting a growing family, or capturing quiet moments with the ones you love most, my goal is always the same - to tell your story in a way that feels true, emotional, and timeless. I want you to look at your gallery years from now and feel like it was just yesterday!

How I got here:

My love for photography started early.. long before it ever felt like a career path. I was always known as "the girl with a camera" taking photos of family, friends, and especially pets! In high school, I discovered film photography, which taught me to see moments differently. That love carried into college, where I continued taking photography classes, learning the technical side while still being most drawn to emotion and storytelling.

Even then, photography wasn’t something I was encouraged to pursue as a living, and I only thought of it as just another hobby.. so life took me in a different direction. I spent several years working in a veterinary clinic, starting as a receptionist then eventually moving into a management position. Caring for animals has always been a huge part of who I am, and that chapter shaped me in ways I’m incredibly grateful for.

During that time, photography remained my creative outlet. On weekends, I began diving into wildlife photography - combining my love for animals, nature, and just being outdoors in general. Eventually I started asking myself.... how could I do this every day?

Curiosity led me to interview local wedding photographers, and I quickly became fascinated. Not just by the art of their photography, but by the lives they were building around creativity, storytelling, and connection. That spark changed everything for me!

In early 2025, I officially started my photography business, photographing a little bit of everything. And along the way, I realized what truly lit me up - capturing love!!

Life beyond the camera:

When I’m not behind the camera, you’ll usually find me exploring the outdoors with my husband Taylor! One of our most memorable adventures was spontaneously flying to Oregon (it was his idea, not mine!!) to pick up our V8 Toyota 4Runner - a vehicle that has become a huge part of our story and perfectly represents what we both love most: adventure! From hiking in the rain to spontaneous weekend getaways and longer road trips, we cherish the moments of discovery, laughter, and simply being present together.

We spend much of our free time hiking, camping, off-roading, dirt biking, stargazing - basically name anything outdoors and we'll do it! One of my favorite traditions is Friday night coffees! Whether it’s brewing a cup out the back of our 4Runner behind Bixby Bridge, or grabbing coffee somewhere local and going for an evening drive around Asilomar Beach - these little adventures are what make the end of every week so special to us!

When we’re not on the road, home is filled with just as much love - thanks to our two cats, Kona and Kahlua, who bring a little extra magic into our everyday life! They keep us laughing every day and are a big part of why I have such a soft spot for photographing pets and the special bond people share with their animals.

Every year, we plan a few big road trips along with some weekend trips just to have something on the calendar to look forward to and count down the days until. We love revisiting places like Mammoth (where we got married), Utah, Idaho, Bass Lake (where we visit a pair of Bald Eagles every year!), and Hawaii. My dream is to one day visit Australia or Costa Rica, and see the parrots flying in the wild!

What I love most:

At the heart of it all, I'm drawn to connection. The way your partner looks at you when you aren't paying attention. The uncontrollable laughter that sneaks in between photos. The quiet moments, the big celebrations, and everything in between. Whether it's a couple, a family, a beloved pet, or a wedding day surrounded by your favorite people, those genuine connections are what inspire me most.

My approach is rooted in storytelling, emotion, and authenticity. Rather than focusing on perfectly posed images, I create space for real moments to unfold naturally. The result is a gallery filled with photographs that feel true to who you are and preserve not only what your day looked like, but what it felt like.

If you’re looking for a photographer who will feel more like a friend, someone who values authenticity, presence, and emotion over perfection, then I think you might have came across the right one here!

What Do I Do When I’m Not Taking Photos?

I’m literally never not taking photos!!

When I’m not photographing couples, families, or maternity sessions, there’s a good chance you’ll still find me behind a camera - just in a different setting.

I love wildlife photography just as much as I love portrait photography, and I never travel without my telephoto lens! Whether we’re offroading, on a roadtrip, or hiking, I’m always scanning the landscape for wildlife. Spotting bald eagles, kingfishers, owls, and so many others has become one of my favorite hobbies!

There’s something incredibly special about photographing animals in their natural environment - the quiet patience, watching them interact with each other, and that rush of being in the right place at the right time. It keeps me inspired and constantly in awe of the world around us!
